Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment to achieve beautiful straight teeth without the need for braces (wires).
How does it work?
Invisalign uses a series of removable, virtually invisible and comfortable aligners that people seldom know you are wearing. Invisalign is made with 3D computer imaging technology and has been proven very effective in patients determined to be a candidate for this form of orthodontics. A consultation with your dentist can determine if Invisalign is right for you.
Why would I want this type of orthodontic treatment?
The aligners are not only invisible, they can be removed so that you can eat and drink what you want while in treatment. Brushing and flossing are not difficult because they can be removed. The aligners are more comfortable that brackets and wires and cause fewer sore spots. Less time will be spent in the dentist chair for adjustments that traditional wire and bracket orthodontic treatment. Invisalign also allows you to view your own virtual treatment plan when you start so you can see how your straight teeth will look when your treatment is complete.
You wear each set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush, and floss. As you replace each aligner with the next in the series, your teeth will move – little by little, week by week- until they have straightened to the final position your doctor has prescribed. You’ll visit our practice about once every six weeks to ensure that your treatment is progressing as planned. Total treatment time averages from nine to fifteen months and the average number of aligners worn during treatment is between 18 and 30, but both will vary from case to case.
